Jiu Jitsu
The word “jiu jitsu” derives from the Japanese “Jū” meaning “gentle” and “Jutsu” meaning “art”; essentially, jiu jitsu is the “gentle art”.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent.
Professor Dave Verster
Professor Dave Verster is the head of Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Durban. He received his black belt in March 2016 from Professor Marcus Soares.
An accomplished BJJ athlete, Professor Dave has competed internationally and been the SA Submission Grappling Champion and a promotional MMA champion.
He was also an acomplished professional boxer.

Kids, Juniors and Anti Bullying
The Gracie Anti Bullying and combatives syllabus is also taught, with classes on Saturdays.
Kids and juniors classes are held twice a week and on Saturdays.
